About the Author
Elaine N. Marieb began her teaching career at Springfield College, where she taught A&P to physical education majors.  She then joined the faculty of the Biological Science Division of Holyoke Community College with a Ph.D. in zoology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. As a result of her contact with her students at Holyoke Community College, many of whom were pursuing degrees in nursing, she developed a desire to better understand the relationship between the scientific study of the human body and the clinical aspects of nursing practice.  Still teaching full-time, Dr. Marieb pursued her nursing education, which culminated in a Master of Science degree with a clinical specialization in gerontology from the University of Massachusetts.  It is this experience, along with stories from the field–including those of former students now in health careers–that has informed the development of the unique perspective and accessibility for which her texts and laboratory manuals are known.

Great seller, bad book.

I have nothing against the seller. They were great and could not be happier with them. Would buy from again.

My issue is with the book. Compared tp the updates version, some images are labeled wrong. Or not present and the muscles section is difficult to read through. Poor layout. I would buy it again because money is tight for me, but if it wasnt for my friends owning updated versions, I would have lost points on the exams.

Not great at creating titles

this lab manual was very helpful all the diagrams are in color and are labeled. it is the best study guide a person could have. the spiral binding makes it easy to study with on the bus, no need to have a giant book sprawled on your lap. it is easy to read. it is truly the least complicated biology book.

I was happy as to how promptly I received the package... Very nice! But in all honesty, I was disappointed as to the conditions of the book. Overpriced in my opinion.

The Best Book on Field Education

Whether you are thinking about CPE, an internship, or any other field education experience as a student or as a supervisor, you will find a wealth of expert guidance in Experiencing Ministry Supervision.
The book includes contributions from eight directors of field education at various Southern Baptist theological seminaries. That all the authors are Southern Baptist does not limit the utility of this book. As a ministry student in a far more liberal denomination, I have found the material equally applicable to my own situation.
Topics covered include selecting a site and supervisor, designing a learning covenant, working with lay committees, getting the most out of your supervisory conferences, and more. The material is well organized and well written. You can easily skim to find the information you need, but you'll eventually want to read the entire book.
There are two limitations, however. The book focuses on field education in church settings, so students pursuing field education in community ministry settings will find little directed specifically to them. The book also focuses only on reasonably good internship experiences. While it will help you avoid some typical pitfalls, major problems are beyond its scope.
If you are looking for a book that tells you nearly everything you ever wanted to know about field education (but were afraid to ask), look no further. You've found it.

I am reading this book for my Internship class. I find that Pyle and his contributing authors are very concise and descriptive in their explanation of field-based approach to learning. This is an excellent resource for anyone seeking information on Christian/Ministry based Internships.

About the Author
About the Authors David C. Walls is originally from Chester, Pennsylvania, and now makes his home in Springfield (Delaware County), which is also in the Keystone State. He began working with computers professionally in 1983 at Widener University. While there, he worked with the Pick database system in various forms, introduced the university to the Internet, and rolled out Novell NetWare-based networks to the campus computer labs. For four years he was the Manager of Engineering at FasPak, a communications cabling company. Since then, he has been teaching and consulting on a variety of topics, with emphasis on Microsoft' s SQL Server. He has previously contributed to a book about SQL Server 7.0, has written several magazine articles, and has spoken at computer-oriented conferences. Denise M. Gosnell is a Senior Programmer Consultant with Ambassador, Inc., a solutions firm headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her previous positions include Director of IS for CMG Worldwide, Inc., Programmer/Analyst for Key Benefit Administrators, Inc., and Systems Engineer for Electronic Data Systems (EDS). She obtained her Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD) status in 1997. Denise has been involved in software development professionally for over 6 years, and has worked with computer programming as a hobby since she was 12 years old. She received her bachelor' s degree in Computer Science-Business from Anderson University and recently received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University. She plans to pursue a career in patent and intellectual property law. Mark D. Scott is a consultant for RDA. He is a Microsoft Certified Database Administrator, System Engineer + Internet,Solution Developer and Trainer. He is a nationally recognized speaker and author. Max Anders (Th.M. Dallas Theological Seminary, D.Min Western Seminary) is the author of over 20 books and the creator and general editor of the32 volume "Holman Bible Commentary". It's simply laid out, but delves into the meatier subjects of Christianity, like the incarnation of Christ and God's requirement for personal holiness. Dr. Allison doesn't beat around the bush, yet he still presents this heady material in a conversational, genuine way, informed by his many years of experience on the mission field as well as in the classroom. I only wish I had had a book like this one when I was in high school.

This is a wonderful old Christian classic,very real in the difficulties of spiritual growth and how you really are never alone unless you want to be,and how important it is to not give up but to keep trying to develope a personal relationship with God of your understanding. Loved it,made me feel the very young me who struggled with all these ideas,efforts and the opinions of others. Hurnaud was a fountain of language and ideas, and this is my favorite.

About the Author

Neil A. Campbell has taught general biology for 30 years, and with Dr. Reece, has coauthored Biology, Sixth Edition, the most widely used text for biology majors. His enthusiasm for sharing the fun of science with students stems from his own undergraduate experience. He began at Long Beach State College as a history major, but switched to zoology after general education requirements "forced" him to take a science course. Following a B.S. from Long Beach, he earned an M.A. in Zoology from UCLA and a Ph.D. in Plant Biology from the University of California, Riverside.

He has published numerous articles on how certain desert plants thrive in salty soil and how sensitive plant (Mimosa) and other legumes move their leaves. His diverse teaching experiences include courses for non-biology majors at Cornell University, Pomona College, and San Bernardino Valley College, where he received the first Outstanding Professor Award in the Department of Botany and Plant Sciences at UC Riverside, which recognized him as the university's Distinguished Alumnus for 2001. In addition to Biology, Sixth Edition, he is coauthor of Essential Biology.

Jane B. Reece has worked in biology publishing since 1978, when she joined the editorial staff of Benjamin Cummings. Her education includes an A.B. in Biology from Harvard University, an M.S. in Microbiology from Rutgers University, and a Ph.D. in Bacteriology from the University of California, Berkeley. At UC Berkeley and later as a post-doctoral fellow in genetics at Stanford University, her research focused on genetic recombination in bacteria. Dr. Reece taught biology at Middlesex County College (New Jersey) and Queensborough Community College (New York). During her 12 years as an editor at Benjamin Cummings, she played major roles in a number of successful textbooks. Subsequently, she was a coauthor of The World of the Cell, Third Edition, with W. M. Becker and M. F. Poenie. With Dr. Campbell, she coauthors Biology, Sixth Edition, and Essential Biology.

Lawrence G. Mitchell has 21 years of experience teaching a broad range of life science courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels. He holds a B.S. degree in Zoology from Pennsylvania State University and a Ph.D. in Zoology and Microbiology from the University of Montana. Following postdoctoral research with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Dr. Mitchell joined the biology faculty at Iowa State University in 1971. He received the Outstanding Teacher Award at Iowa State in 1982. In addition to numerous research publications in aquatic parasitology, Dr. Mitchell has coauthored the textbook Zoology, two laboratory manuals, and a study guide for introductory biology. He has also developed television courses in general biology and has written, produced, and narrated programs on wildlife biology for public television. Dr. Mitchell is a full-time writer.

Martha R. Taylor has been teaching biology for more than 20 years. She earned her B.A. in Biology from Gettysburg College and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Science Education from Cornell University. She was Assistant Director of the Office of Instructional Support at Cornell for seven years. She has taught introductory biology for both majors and non-majors at Cornell University for many years and is currently a visiting lecturer in Cornell's introductory biology laboratory course. Based on her experiences working with students from high school and community college through university, in both classrooms and tutorials, Dr. Taylor is committed to helping students create their own knowledge of and appreciation for biology. She has been the author of the Student Study Guide for all six editions of Biology by Drs. Campbell and Reece.

WARNING! No access code in rental.

WARNING!!! Rental does NOT include access code even though the product is titled “Campbell Biology: Concepts & Connections Plus MasteringBiology with eText -- Access Card Package (8th Edition).” After you click the 'rent' option, you will see a warning in fine print at the bottom of the rental selection box stating that access codes are not guaranteed. If you miss this tiny warning and proceed with renting, you will most likely receive a used book without a working access code unless you happen to receive a new book for your rental. If you receive a used book for your rental but need the access code, you will need to either keep the rental and buy an access code from Pearson or another source or return the rental and buy a new book with an access code. If you choose to return the rental, your money will be tied up until Rent U receives the returned textbook then refunds your rental fee. Either way, you will need to allow sufficient time to source and obtain your access code. Calling the rental product a textbook with access card package when there is no guarantee that the access card is included is deceptive and needs to be corrected.

Was a little skeptical about ordering this book online because I needed it as soon as possible for school but I'm happy I did. You can't beat the price and it was in excellent condition! This book has lots of visuals to help get better understandings of lessons which is very helpful.

About the Author

For Elaine N. Marieb, forging a relationship between her students and the anatomy and physiology concepts that will form the basis of their careers has always been a priority. Having gone back to school to get her R.N. degree and an M.S. in gerontological nursing when she was already a college teacher, she is uniquely able to understand the needs of both instructors and students. Elaine is Professor Emeritus of biology at Holyoke Community College, Holyoke, Massachusetts, where she taught anatomy and physiology for 25 years. She has also relocated to Naples, Florida, where she is now Visiting Professor at Edison Community College in nearby Fort Myers, Florida. She keeps in touch with many of her former students, whose experiences in allied health careers provide insights into the changing needs of A&P students.

This book was an excellent educational tool and helped make learning a little bit more fun. This was a book that was required for the nursing program I completed, and I'm really glad that it was. I'm sure there's a newer edition by now, but if anything, it can only be better than this one. I highly recommend this for anyone interested in learning more about anatomy and physiology!

Excellent explaination of the modern American worldview

SUCH a great introduction to the prevailing worldview of America today. Bush does a fine job of demonstrating why testing all truth by the scientific method is not a good idea. Modern day Americans would reject historical truth if they cannot test it scientifically. They reject logic when the logic isn't able to be tested with the scientific method. And this is ridiculous. The Advancement is a great book - and not JUST for this reason. Do yourself a favor and check it out. It's a very easy read for any intellectual, but the points, though simple to understand, are quite valid.

A popular conference and seminary speaker, Dennis has coauthored three books and hosts a weekly television show and daily radio program. He and his wife, Angie, have two children.

A good habit

This book for me was kind of redundant. He used the same verses over and over to emphasize different "Habits". I love the concept of the book, and I have actually referenced it for other studies. It is a great book for someone new to the faith and wants to get the MEAT of how jesus was, without having to read through all the gospels.

In this work, The Jesus Habits, we find author Jay Dennis laying the foundation for changing our lives in his unveiling of the habits of Jesus Christ.

Rev. Dennis looks deeply into the habits of Jesus; things that he practiced daily and

incorporated into every thing that he did or said; and the author carefully explains them to you, telling you the benefits of making these your habits as well. If there was any man that we should try to imitate their lifestyle , it certainly would be Jesus.

He tells you why they are important to incorporate in your life and even gives you enemies of the habits, which are reasons or circumstances that would stop you from developing them. I have to say, I definitely could relate to some of these enemies and others I was not aware of until my reading. Thankfully now I see where they have hindered me without my realization and I am able to make some needed changes. What a blessing that is and will continue to be.

As a Christian I found this work to be extremely helpful and used it to check my own walk with the Lord. There are 31 habits listed and include categories such as; Prayer, Worship, Rest, Thanksgiving and Purpose, to name a few. Each category is clearly developed and you definitely have a complete understanding of their importance in the life of Jesus and in your own life when you complete this read.

A book of information, instruction and encouragement; The Jesus Habits is a must have for all believers to enrich their Christian walk. However, I feel this book would benefit not only Christians, but all that would like to become better all around productive people.

Recommended for all those who would like to see their lives and this world become a better place.

We did a Bible Study using this book, and the way Jay Dennis outlines all the "habits" that most of us overlook when doing our daily studies just blatantly pop-out at you and help to make the human-ness in Jesus more apparent. It was a very humbling experience, and Mr. Dennis did a very awesome job. Everyone needs a copy!
